Self teachings in photoshop
The images below are extra album covers that I decided to play with and to display my development in creativity and my understanding of using Photoshop; I can gladly say that my knowledge and confidence have grew significantly from the start of my Media Studies course. As these were only rough drafts to my work they have no made the final cut and are not used for my group blog and the band we created. However I enjoyed the learning and production in creating these album covers as I found they was fun to do and I wanted to show my influence from modern rap album covers that are seen more often this year.
Below is another example of self-taught extra work that I create at my home computer with Adobe Photoshop, whilst watching YouTube and Photoshop tutorials online I believe that my creative artistic choices and decisions are improving significantly. The purpose of this post is to inform the examiner and my colleagues my professional designer spark in my dedication of becoming as creative as possible, yet including the styles and influences I enjoy; thus presenting them effectively on this website for viewers to observe my work. I have not been guided to upload these images by my teacher, but I wanted to convey the independence and skill level I have acquired on this course and that my work is professional enough to display on the internet for feedback.
I was inspired by these album covers below as they are produced by very famous artists but are very simple to create; also I became interested in their approach of implementing their personal child photos for the album cover which creates individuality and adds a personal touch for the audience to gain a brief insight to the artists life.
In contrast to my production of band merchandise, the design of my clothing line was heavily inspired by my favourite luxury brand "Off-White". I am very interested in their approach to fashion by combining a skate brand with luxury fashion, aided with a simplistic and minimalism design which appeals to my interests in fashion. Creator of OF-WHITE 'Virgil Abloh', now executive CEO designer for Louis Vuitton, implements the juxtaposition of these huge differences in fashion and using the linking of these differences to create a new and unique take-on of the codes and conventions of fashion. This logic and originality of a simplistic idea offers us huge inspiration in the justification of our clothing and merchandise line, and how we build onto our band's overall image and once again linking to the professionalism that we want to portray.
Below are images that display my designing and editing choices in the alteration of images for my website in the software Adobe Photoshop. As seen below I changed and implemented from the drop down tab in the image then the adjustments tab, then I used many different editing tools such as Channel Mixer, Shadows/Highlights and Colour Balance.
Well done Alex, fantastic work. Good that you are developing your skills independently - it is really paying off. Please extend and add what your influences were in creating your designs for teh tee shirts and album covers.... something you have seen maybe? If so what and how did it influence you?
